Jane Holman was born in 1828 and she was the fifth and youngest surviving daughter of John Holman senior (1795-1853) and Melicent Hodge (1795-1850). She arrived at Port Adelaide from Liverpool, aged 11 years, with parents and other siblings from Crowan, Cornwall on 7 June 1839 aboard Sir Charles Forbes .
According to the 1841 Census, 13 year old Jane was resident in Currie Street, Adelaide with her parents and two sisters, Mary and Susanna. Jane moved with her parents to Willunga in the early 1840s and grew up in Willunga.
Jane Holman married Thomas Williams (1833-1866) on 25 Feb 1850 at Willunga. They had four children:
Thomas (1850-1930) b. at Willunga.

Thomas and Jane Williams appear to have lived at Willunga from the time of their marriage (1850) until about 1855-1857, when they moved to the gold fields in Victoria.
Jane's first husband, Thomas, died in New Zealand in 1866 when Jane was 41. She then married Nicholas Luhning (1827-1871), aged 42 years, on 7 Feb 1869 at Old Lead, Victoria.
