Millicent (Melicent) Hodge was born on 19 Jan 1794 at Wendron, Cornwall, England. She was the daughter of Edward Hodge (1763-1819) and Millicent (nee Pascoe) (1767-1853). Religion – Wesleyan Methodist (Uniting Church).

John Holman, aged 23 years, married Millicent (nee Hodge), also aged 23 years, on 11 Dec 1818 in Wendron, Cornwall. They arrived at Port Adelaide from Liverpool with eight of their children (3 sons and 5 daughters – marked *) from Crowan, Cornwall on 7 June 1839 aboard Sir Charles Forbes. Six of their children, all under the age of three, had died in Cornwall before they embarked for Australia. They had a total of fourteen children:

Elizabeth (1821-1856) * m. John Snoswell (1819-1873) on 2 Jan 1843 at Holy Trinity Church, Adelaide

Mary (1822-1860) * m. Sampson Bastian junior at the Wesleyan Chapel in Gawler Place, Adelaide on 20 March 1845

John (1823-1866) * m. Ann Bastian at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Willunga on 8 April 1851

James (1824-1826) died as an infant

Susanna (1826-1851) * m. William Higgins in 1843

James (1827-1903) * m. Susanna Atkinson at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Willunga on 12 Sept 1852

Jane (1828-1915) * m. (1st) Thomas Williams (1833-1863) in 1850 (2nd) Nicholas Luhning (1827-1871) in 1869 in Victoria (3rd) John Bell (1830-1896) in Victoria in 1873

William (1830-1903) * m. Juliana (Julianna) Davey in 1853

Millicent Holman (nee Hodge), aged 55 years, died on 12 March 1850.
