John Robert Percy Male was born at Medrose in the parish of St. Teath Cornwall, England on 1 Sept 1842. He was the oldest son of Francis Male (1820-1895) and Harriet (née Percy) (1821-1896).
John (15) arrived with his parents Francis (36), Harriet (35) and his younger brother William (9) on Burlington, which arrived in Port Adelaide on 13 Feb 1857 from Plymouth. John’s cousin William Browne Male (son of his uncle Moses), aged 23 years, also travelled aboard on the same voyage of Burlington.
John Robert Percy Male, aged 23 years, married Elizabeth Cornelius, aged 22 years, (1843-1936) at Willunga on 17 Aug 1865. They had 12 children:

Emily (1877-1880) b. & d. at Willunga, buried in the Wesleyan Methodist Church Cemetery, Willunga.
Egent (1878-1964) b. at Willunga, d. at Brinkley, SA.
Vincent Percy (1881-1950) b. at Willunga, d. at Woolooroo.
Winford (1882-1959) b. at Willunga, m. Helene Williamson (1891-1963) on 2 Jan 1919 in Perth, WA.
Ella Aetna Leamington (1885-1970) b. at Willunga, m. Charles George Bird (1882-1947) at the residence of JRP Male in Willunga on 23 Oct 1907. He was the son of Alfred Bird, d. at Aldinga and is buried in the Aldinga Uniting Church Cemetery.
Claude Alban Vivian Kent (1887-1968) b. at Willunga, m. Ernestine Pearl Hunt at Prospect on 18 Oct 1918, d. at Murray Bridge.
JRP Male was a farmer at Willunga. He paid rates on a house in the township of Willunga in 1882 and on 70 acres of section 267 in 1883. From 1884 until 1918 he owned 10 Lots (about 4.5 acres) on the West side of St Andrews Terrace between St Patricks St and St Johns Terrace (Lots 119, 120, 123, 124, 127, 128, 131, 132, 135 and 136) within the township of Willunga.
John Robert Percy Male died, aged 92 years, at Willunga on 3 Jan 1935 and his widow Elizabeth (née Cornelius) died the following year on 4 Feb 1936 at Willunga. They are both buried at the Wesleyan Methodist (Uniting) cemetery in Willunga.
