William Meverley (or Meeverley) was born in Halifax, York, England in about 1829 and he arrived in South Australia in about 1851. William (senior), aged 24 years, married widow Mrs. Eliza Clements (nee Ivey) (1823-1908), aged 28? (actually 30) years on 6 Sept 1853 (on the same day as her deceased husband’s funeral) at St. John’s Church in Adelaide. Eliza Ivey of Crowan, Cornwall had married James Nicholas Clements (1823-1853) of St. Just, Cornwall, England on 31 Oct 1844 in St. Just, Cornwall.
James and Eliza Clements had at least four children (1 boy and 3 girls):
Mary Nicholas (1845-1914) m. (1st) William Smith Marshall (1845-1881) on 19 July 1865 (divorced in 1877) (2nd) Firth Tillotson (1850-1938) on 1 July 1880 in Kent Town.
James Nicholas (1850-1893) m. Charlotte Beatrice Hearne.
Jane (1850-1910) b. at Burra. m. (1st) Charles Smart (1810-1889) in 1872 (2nd) Thomas Daff (1856-1903) in 1894 (3rd) Harry Richard Kendle (1858-1927) in 1904.
Selina (1853-1927) b. at Adelaide. m. George Pickhaver (1854-1929) on 29 Nov 1876 at the residence of Mr. Maunley in Willunga.

William (senior) was a quarrymen at Willunga and an Anglican.
William Meverley, aged 76 years, of Hardy Street Paddington and late of Willunga, died on 8 Oct 1905. Eliza Meverley (formerly Clements, nee Ivey) died on 17 July 1908, aged 84 years.
William Meverley (junior), aged 24 years, was stabbed by James Sibley during a quarrel at a public house in June 1879. William (junior) was active in St Stephen’s Anglican Church and served on the Railway Committee.
William (junior), aged 28 years, married (1st) widow Rebecca Beverley Lipson (nee Mortimer) (1835-1913), aged 48 years, on 7 July 1883. (Rebecca's first husband Thomas Hardy Lipson had died in 1862). They had no children. After Rebecca’s death, aged 78 years, on 28 July 1913 William, then aged 58? (actually 60) years, married (2nd) Elizabeth Ann Sanders (1890-1940), aged 27? (actually 25) years, at the Methodist Manse in South Terrace, Adelaide, on 24 July 1915.
