William Henry Reed was born at Willunga on 14 July 1861. He was the third son of William Reed junior (1823-1901) and Eliza Prout (1826-1906).

William Henry, aged 26 years, married Elizabeth Jane Bailey, aged 18 years, (1869-1952) on 18 Aug 1887 at the residence of the bride’s parents in Myponga. They had four children:

  • Wilfred Ross (1888-1961) born at Willunga, married (1st) Hannah Cook Rose (1886-1917) on 31 July 1915 at the residence of Charles John Rose in Forestville, SA, they had three children, (2nd) Mary Rose Bolton (1892- ) on 20 Dec 1924, they lived at Goodwood, he died in the Royal Adelaide Hospital and is buried at Brighton.
  • Lockshield Florent (1890-1912) born at Willunga, unmarried, he died from a fractured skull after a fall from a dray, aged 21 years, at Royal Adelaide Hospital and buried in Mitcham Cemetery.
  • Ambrose Anstey Searle (1892-1961) born at Willunga, married Christine Clara Donald (1895-1987) on 15 Nov 1913 at West Thebarton, they had nine children, he died at Belair and buried in Centennial Park Cemetery.
  • Ibis Unidice Peave (1894-1963) born at Willunga, married William George (“Bill”) How (1894-1985) on 22 July 1919 at Vardon Congregational Church, Kings Park, SA, they had five children, she died at St Marys, SA and is buried in Centennial Park Cemetery.

William Henry Reed was a slate quarryman and the family lived at Delabole.

William Henry Reed died, aged 33 years, at Willunga on 30 Sept 1894 and he is buried in the Willunga Wesleyan Methodist (Uniting) Church Cemetery.
